Vale of Evesham School
Omnium Projects Ltd served as the principal contractor, managing and completing a comprehensive renovation project at a school. The project was divided into three distinct phases, each focusing on different aspects of the school’s infrastructure.
Phase One: Early Years Space Reconfiguration
The first phase involved transforming redundant classroom spaces into an open-plan early years teaching and learning area. This included:
Removing existing ceilings, internal partitions, floor finishes, and wall coverings.
Stripping out and reconfiguring the I.T. infrastructure, electrical, and mechanical installations.
Installing a new low-level toilet block, kitchen, wet play area, and quiet room within the existing building envelope.
Adding a new set of automatic doors to provide level access to the outside space for pupils and staff.
Phase Two: Classroom Reconfigurations
The second phase focused on reconfiguring two classrooms and a toilet block. Key activities included:
Stripping out existing facilities and making minor reconfigurations.
Installing new floor finishes, ceilings, decorations, and wet areas.
Adding low-level and accessible toilets.
Installing a new external set of automatic doors and making ground alterations to enable level access to the courtyard play area.
Phase Three: Classroom Reconfiguration
The final phase involved minor demolitions and the strip-out of existing facilities to allow for:
New ceiling installations.
Reconfiguration of mechanical, electrical, and data services.
New wet area floor finishes, ceilings, and decorations.
Before commencing on-site work, Omnium Projects Ltd held a meeting with the school and the project management team. Given the presence of pupils and the specific needs of some students, it was crucial to minimise disturbances. Measures taken included:
Segregating the work area completely from the school.
Conducting noisy operations outside of sensitive times and with prior consent from the school.
Arriving at work outside of pupil drop-off and collection times.
